Field Trip Guidelines
|
Whenever we are in the community as a group, people will be seeing us and making judgments about homeschoolers and homeschooling in general. Additionally, as Christians, we need to make every effort to be representatives of the love of Jesus. Therefore, in an effort to make a uniformly favorable impression on the field trips we will be taking, please keep in mind the following:
- (1) Please be aware of and remember to register before the cut-off dates listed. Calling last-minute puts the field trip coordinator in a difficult and sometimes impossible spot. Plan ahead.
- (2) Sometimes last minute crisis do happen, but if you know ahead of time that you will not be able to attend a function, please make every effort to notify the coordinator as soon as possible. This may allow someone else to attend, will prevent the group from waiting around unnecessarily and make things smoother for everyone.
- (3) Please be on time when we are meeting as a group. Being late reflects a lack of consideration for everyone else’s time.
- (4) On the field trip, please be considerate of the presenter:
- (a) Listen carefully to the speaker – this also goes for adults!!
- (b) Pay attention and follow directions
- (c) Be polite
- (5) Try to wear your ARCHE t-shirts when possible. This will help us all keep track of each other and identify us as a group.
- (6) Have your child write a thank you note afterwards. This can be put in the mail the next day – you can get the address from the field trip coordinator if you need it. This teaches our children gratitude and courtesy, and encourages the contacts at the site to invite us back again!! It can also be used as a writing, language arts and/or “life skills” assignment.
